Wake each morning to the spectacular sunrise, when the dazzling tropical sun dances on the crystal clear turquoise sea, creating an ever-changing array of tropical blues. Imagine waking to the tranquil sounds of the sea lapping upon the shore. On the horizon, the infamous island of St. Barths glistens in the sun throughout the day; at night the distant city lights and brilliant starry sky collide. Other islands in view include St. Kitts, Nevis and St. Eustatius - even the distant volcanic island of Montserrat twinkles on a clear Caribbean day. Lazily lounge by the pool watching the waves crash, gazing upon captivating 180-degree views of the ocean.

We stayed at this villa for 12 days (November) and had a great time. The photos were accurate--villa was well-maintained, clean and beautifully furnished, bedroom suites very comfortable and private. Especially liked that the kitchen and great room fully opened up to the deck and pool area. Spent many an hour relaxing on cushy outdoor furniture reading and enjoying the view of the ocean, sailboats, and St. Barths in the distance. We did enjoy several day trips. The harbor of Marigot (French side) was very scenic--they have an outdoor market every Wed and Sat, selling everything from fresh-caught fish, veggies, and spices to clothing, artwork, and jewelry (lots of shopping opportunities at the French boutiques as well.) Enjoyed lunch across the street at a wonderful French bakery--food very good and prices reasonable (be sure to take some pastries home for later!) A trip to Grand Case is a must--great restaurants and little boutique shops. Many beaches--one for every day of the week--we especially liked Orient Beach. Also, visit the Lotterie on the French side--wonderful pool and spa-like atmosphere (cabanas, no less) and luscious food. A trip to the main drag in Phillipsburg is also a nice day trip--known for the many jewelry shops (NICE) and boutiques, and several bars and restaurants for a leisurely lunch (we chose one by the water). A short trip near the villa takes you to the Dawn Beach area--Busby's is right on the beach and great for lunch--and Busby's morphs into Daniel's by the Sea at night with soft lighting, good food, and reasonable prices. For meeting locals, try the Dingy Dock nearby--just ask anyone for directions. Renting a car is a must. Grocery stores I would recommend--Costplus, Grand Marche, Fresh Market. We definitely would return--our stay was wonderful!!! There are steps leading down from the parking area to the villa--this may pose a problem for someone with physical disabilities. Also, I would not recommend this villa if you have young children--the railings on the deck are not built to US code, and the pool could be a problem also.
Villa Caribella and St. Maarten are both fantastic. The Villa was very clean. While on the island, renting a car is a must. The view from the villa is incredible but I strongly recommend seeing a different beach every day. Our favorite was Pinel. You have to take a very short ferry to the island. Palm beach at Orient bay was also great and the lunch was fantastic. The Hidden Forest Café had great food for dinner and is one of a kind. We used shop n drop groceries and they had the kitchen stocked with food upon our arrival. A great service for those who are not familiar with the island and the grocery stores. We had four couples in the villa to celebrate a 40th birthday. The villa was a great place for us and we all had a great time.
Villa Caribella was a wonderful stay this year during the New Year's week! Extremely relaxing. The pool isn't heated but being from Michigan and Minnesota - it was warmer than we're used to. A couple of things that folks should know - the roads are like Highway 1 in California WITHOUT turnouts. When it rains, our car couldn't go up the hill - we just had to wait - next time - 4 wheel drive. While it's generally wonderful to be on "island time", this also applies to the St. Maarten airport which gives no priority to commercial airlines over the private airlines and with 1 runway for incoming and outgoing, chances are your flight will be delayed so if you're making a connection, don't schedule the closest one - leave plenty of time on the return to whatever country you're going to. Would we come back? Absolutely! IT's the only place we would stay on St. Maarten/St. Martin. We preferred the French side because the food is far superior and while we were there, the French folks were treating Euros and dollars as equal if you paid with cash almost everywhere. We also liked the French supermarket - lots of different things from the states. The dutch side food stores look just like a Publix or bodega depending on the size of the store you go to. The pictures on the site don't do the place justice - until there's holograms, it's just not possible to communicate the beauty of the place!
This was my 2nd visit to Villa Caribella and I enjoyed it even more than my 1st! I took full advantage of the beautiful kitchen, the sun deck, the swimming pool and the gorgeous view. I can't think of a more beautiful place to stay in the Caribbean. It is close enough to stores that you can stock up on what you need when you arrive (and maybe a few refill trips throughout the week!)...and then just relax and enjoy yourself! It is peaceful, quiet, clean, modern and has every amenity you could need.
This was our 3rd trip to St. Martin, 2nd time staying in a personal home. The previous stay was in an ocean-front home which we thought was the best you could do...Wrong...you have no view, except what is in front of you...staying at Villa Caribella was breath taking from the moment we walked in. This home is in perfect condition and had everything you could hope for...clean..clean..clean, new..new..new.. The layout was perfect , you never felt you were in any ones way...the center of the home and kitchen is so amazing you have everything right there and feel like you are outside. Our plan was to go to the beach but we did not want to leave the house, you truly felt like you were the only home there. In fact we though it was going to be a little out of the way, only to find it is in a beautiful gated community, minutes from everything. We found ourselves rushing around the Island the last few days trying to get in a few sites, as leaving the house was impossible the first 5 days. We truly wanted to stay another week or 2, and dreaded check out day. We are planning out next trip as I write this.
I rented this house with 5 friends and it was the perfect spot for our vacation! The house was fully furnished with everything that we could have needed. We rented all of the upstairs area which was 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, huge outdoor terrace and pool. It was so nice to be able to wake up in the morning and use the pool before starting our day. The house was also in a nice neighborhood that felt very safe and secure. Once we had our bearings, it was easy to get to a from any place on the island and there were grocery stores within 15 minutes of the house. The house was also very clean and the housekeeper came twice during our trip to make sure everything was spotless. I would definitely rent this house again when I'm back in St Maarten!
We knew we were in for a nice relaxing vacation, but when we arrived at the Villa Caribella, we were stunned. The pictures may be nice, but the actual experience of standing on that deck, taking in the view, enjoying that cool pool, nothing can beat it. Our arrival was made even sweeter and easier by pre-arranging through our concierge at Travel Keys the delivery of our groceries which meant we did not have to worry about leaving the Villa to make a grocery run upon arrival. We will certainly be back, it was so sad when we had to leave, and like others have mentioned in their review, a week later we were trying to figure out how we could get back there, sooner as opposed to later! Next time, we'll bring another couple or two to share the experience with.
If you are on the fence or even just considering Villa Caribella- GO! It is so wonderful on so many levels. It is gorgeous, well appointed, comfortable, safe and close to great places Honestly, we didn't leave the house as often as we thought. Why would we, have you checked out that pool?! The pictures do not do those views justice. GORGEOUS SUNRISE. It is quiet and relaxing and private. My husband and I wish we could go back again next week.
A home away from home . A true paradise . Unbelievable views , perfect location , beautiful villa. Miss it already.
This was our third time renting a villa in St Maarten. This villa was so far ahead of the others it was incredible. The property was immaculate. The photos really don't do it justice. Everything was as advertised. There is plenty to do within a 10 minute drive. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a great vacation. If you go, try Big Fish restaurant (at the bottom by Mr. Busby's). We rented a boat at the marina (5 min away) and sailed around the island. It is a different view and pretty amazing.
